Puppies

I am proud to be an AKC Breeder of Merit.  I am a small hobby breeder and raise my puppies in my home to be happy, healthy pets first and foremost.  I breed for versatility, temperament, soundness and "type," those qualities that make a Whippet look and act like a Whippet.

The Sire and Dam of the litter are registered with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, Inc. (OFFA) Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) and have CHIC registration numbers.  This registration is possible only if a Whippet has no congenital problems with hearing, sight, or their heart.  Both are also AKC Champions in conformation.

I have bred two litters and this summer will be my third.  I primarily breed for myself.  I do not have a kennel, so all my dogs live in the house with me.  Puppies are born in a bedroom and grow up with my other Whippets and the sounds of a home surrounding them.

When I breed a litter, I will start a list of potential homes.  Potential homes must include a fenced yard. I do not take deposits on puppies and I do not ship them.  Potential owners must come to my house to meet me and the puppies in person.  At eight weeks, I will evaluate my puppies to determine which puppy I plan to keep and which puppies will go to their forever home.  My puppies are sold as a pet and companion and no warranty is given for any special purpose or function.  While a puppy may result in a show or performance adult, no guarantee for show or performance quality can be given at 8-12 weeks.

Potential owners must agree to take good care of their Whippet, which includes but is not limited to feeding, housing, regular exercise, annual wellness exams (including an appropriate vaccination schedule), and providing an outdoor area that is safe, clean, and secure.  The Whippet is not to live tied or kenneled outdoors.  If the Whippet is found neglected; abused; suffering from malnutrition; living in atrocious conditions; or used for any illegal activities (e.g., dog fighting, a puppy mill), I (as the breeder) reserve the right to repossess the Whippet and will reimburse the owner.  If a potential owner can no longer keep their Whippet for any reason, they must return the puppy (or adult) to me.

A Whippet puppy from a good breeder in this area of the country will run anywhere from around $1,000 to $2,000, higher depending on the breeding; stud fees vary.  Before puppies leave me, they are AKC and UKC registered, BAER (hearing) tested, and microchipped.  They have also had their first wellness exam, dewclaws removed, and their first set of puppy vaccinations.

Whippet Rescues are often not available in this area.  If one is available, an adoption fee of approximately $500 is required to cover expenses.  Visit www.whippet-rescue.com for more information about Whippet Rescue and Placement (WRAP).

If you are interested in acquiring a puppy from me, please fill out the Puppy Questionnaire and email it to me.
